Wearing the proper protection is the best way you can protect and preserve your hearing ability. Hearing protection options come in a variety of styles and should be selected to meet your lifestyle needs. Some of the choices are specialized, with occupational and personal preferences being the important deciding factor. EarTech Audiology wants to help you protect your ability to hear, which is why we offer an extensive line-up of products for your needs.
Types of hearing protection
Hearing protection can be grouped into three main categories; industrial, hunting and recreational. Each of these groups has specialty products that cater to the task being performed. For example, motorsport earplugs would be a bad fit for hunters. Motorsport earplugs block out wind, while DefendEar products are ideal for hunting and block out the pop of a gun firing.
- Industrial: TRU Protection, DefendEar Max, occupational
- Hunting: DefendEar Digital, DefendEar Shooter, hunting
- Recreational: Surf, motorsport, sleep, musicians’ earplugs, iCustom, swimming
Musicians’ earplugs and monitors
The many notes played in music can also have damaging effects when played at a large volume. When producing music at home or in the studio, musicians have to protect their hearing. Normal earplugs would block out too much of the sound vital to produce quality music. That is where musicians’ earplugs come in, by allowing full audio passthrough with configurable balancing. Low, mid and high sounds are normalized without leaving out any important information.
In-ear monitors for musicians use a transmitter to amplify sound into the ear of the user. They are great devices when performing live, and are a complete replacement to wedge monitors. It is a two-part system that allows the performer to hear the music in the same way as the people in the audience.
Custom earmolds and earplugs
Custom earmolds and earplugs are a step up from generic ear protection products. They are molded to fit the ear and canal of specific users. The molding technology is also used when getting hearing aids during the fitting process. Like the fitting process, custom earmolds and earplugs ensure the comfort of the wearer. Instead of a one size fit all solution that still allows sound in, custom variants are required to receive the full benefits of the product. With custom plugs and earmolds, special features like blocking wind buffeting are possible. To get the most out of any hearing product, custom earmolds and earplugs are a recommended solution.
